they've reaally bad problems with themselves...but the elfic ears are cool xD

and yet everyone is fine with a girl getting implants that make her look more like a floatation device. Speaking as someone who has heavier mods, quite simply if this is not your thing that's fine. Notice the lack of degrading others....

The ones who have problems are those who are easy to judge others who are not like themselves or the crowd they follow. Leave people alone, let them make their own decisions, you shouldn't give a shit about what others decide to do with their bodies, it's theirs, worry about your own you bunch of nosy bastards

i think most of here are acting like a punch of nine year olds. I find very complicated to see why the fuck do you think you have a right to judge who is freak and who is not. If you would have been grown in some african tribe, you would think that a lip plate would be very beautiful. how can you just fucking say that someone is a freak or suicidal for having an elf ear? seriously you are fucking hilarious. and i don't find these beautiful either. and nope, i'm not into extreme body modification, my extremes body modification this on are just normal earrings. just saying everyone finds some thing beautiful, and there's always some that doesn't. so FUUUCK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

i think that elf ear is the coolest thing ever :D and i kinda dig the corset poercings and split togues xD all the rest look a bit strange though...

Yeah this is a little extreme but you guys don't have to be douchbags and be closed minded about the things "OTHER" people do with their body. Their happy with their selves and choose to do as they please with their bodies. The ones who judge are most likely the ones who are insecure and not happy in their own skin. Take a look in the mirror before you start judging other people.

What some of the people who have commented here don't seem to understand is that a good portion of these pictures (minus the Tiger man, who wanted to turn himself into his "spirit animal", I know this from Ripley's Believe it or Not, and the elf ears... maybe a few others) are cultural things.

There are African cultures that believe a woman should have a metal ring welded around her neck for each year she is alive, and that it and extreme gauges are beautiful. (With the rings their necks get so long they look like giraffe's... and their collar bones and upper arms often also extend into the rings, but aren't much wider than their neck...) And there are cultures that believe scarification is beautiful and that a ton of piercings everywhere are beautiful... not sure if any culture widely believes the metal implants are beautiful.

Our culture tells us that you need to be without any kind of blemish and that women need to be painted with makeup and have huge boobs, wide hips and a tiny waist to be beautiful, so people actually go out and modify their body to accommodate this sense of beauty. Liposuction, implants, cosmetic tattoo's... they even have permanent hair extensions now...

As far as I'm concerned, while it may be unsettling to see some of the modifications some of you seem to consider more extreme, at least they aren't trying to hide themselves. (Most of them) I can generally tell when a woman is fake, because I am a REAL woman, no makeup, no push-up bras, no butt pads, no implants, no liposuction, no hair extensions or fake nails... nothing, just me... but that doesn't mean most men can tell right off.

If you wear spanx, or butt pads or anything else that changes the shape of your body, even a bra that makes your boobs look bigger, I consider it worse than if you have OBVIOUS modifications, or even the less obvious implants... You get a guy in bed and BAM all of a sudden you're fat, have no butt and no boobs... then when you wake up your face is totally different too??? THAT'S SICK! It's more of a lie than anything I see here, and at least with boob, butt and lip implants all of your parts stay the same size. No surprises.

These are all beautiful. If you have ever dyed your hair, bulked up, or gone tanning you have also done a form of body modification. These body mods are just more extreme, and a little less socially acceptable. Body modification is just a form of self-expression and it is beautiful if it is a conscious choice. I will be damned if anyone will ever tell me what I can or cannot do with my body. Body modification does not mean that these people are any less of a human than you, or that they are anything but people that, simply, wish to express themselves. I love body modification and I think it is a beautiful form of self expression and art. "Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

Can we all just get along!!

Nauseating. To each his own, but I just don't get it. Psychologically speaking, I wonder what some common denominators are amongst the body modifiers. What influences some people to do these things while most people would never consider it. Interesting. Nauseating, but interesting.

These body modifications are extreme, but isn't gastric bypass considered extreme? I know the procedure has evolved over the years but when it was first performed it was DEFINITELY extreme. It left the patient with a stomach the size of a peanut, literally. It surgically altered the gastrointestinal system in a way that was irreparable. Is it considered more socially acceptable to alter a GI tract because you can't see it? Because it ultimately results in being, physically, more appealing by society's standards? Boob jobs, liposuction, chin implants... On one hand, they're no different. On the other... Everyone has a different opinion on what beauty looks like, obviously. But the vast majority of people will agree on a general perception. These body modifications aren't a part of that perception. What makes a person intentionally want to go in the opposite direction? Is it an act of defiance? A way to stand out from the norm? Making a statement? This is so interesting to me.

You know what I often wonder... There are times when I find myself staring at someone who is heavily tattooed, not because I'm shocked or gawking but because I find myself actually reading the tattoos and looking at the pictures. When this happens and the tattooed person catches me looking at him/her I always feel like I've been caught doing something wrong. Often times I get a dirty look. My question is this... If you're tattooed on virtually every visible surface, or if you have holes in your ears the size of tennis balls, or any other clearly visible modification... Why so mad when people check it out? Isn't that the point??
